Biggest Highlight of 2016
Dec 17, 2016 - Blog post by Ruth Collis
The biggest highlight of the year was seeing months of tests finally work to make animal print paintings where the 3-dimension stands over an inch high off the canvas surface and wraps around the edges. This is of course made entirely out of thick acrylic paint, not possible a generation ago.
This discovery made possible included designing the right tool for the zebra stripes to not fall over, inventing a process to get air bubbles out, and using my Separate Drying Layer that makes the best sculpted shapes possible.
I also wanted a price point for everybody and saw I didn't have high quality paintings with a designer flare, so made a new Luxury Paintings line.
I just started a course from Cory Huff on selling art online, during this busiest season, but the little I got into so far has opened my eyes to getting my art out there. For the first time I am seeing luxury places I could contact who might like these highly sculpted paintings that I didn't know of before.
Click the pictures to learn more about the extensive process of each piece and what makes them a luxury painting.
